Youth Development (S.A.Y. Y.E.S.! Centers)
S.A.Y. Yes! After School Program Overview: The S.A.Y. Yes! program is designed to meet the wholistic needs of “at risk” children during the time of day when many are unsupervised and vulnerable to getting into trouble. Here's Life Inner City offers specialized training in tutoring and Christian character development curriculum to our partner ministries. Here’s Life Inner City then gives them the curriculum to begin their S.A.Y. Yes Center for Youth Development, and provides ongoing site visits and consultation. Training is also provided for volunteers who would like to be mentors in a S.A.Y. Yes! Center. In Jacksonville there are currently 35 S.A.Y. Yes! Centers serving over 2000 children.
Arsenio was a 3rd grader living without a dad and with a mother addicted to drugs. Arsenio tells on the video below how he would take off for ‘a couple of days’ and no one would miss him. When his mother was admitted to a drug rehabilitation program, Arsenio started going to the S.A.Y. Yes! Center after school.
Under the direction of the S.A.Y. Yes Center director, the dedicated volunteers did not give up on Arsenio and earned his trust. They introduced him to values that began to shape his young life. By the end of the year, he experienced the accomplishment of making the Honor Roll! His mom was so proud of him! She was amazed at Arsenio’s accomplishments in school, his caring, helpfulness, and respect at home! Hope changes everything!
