Easter Bags
Easter Bags: Plain paper bags filled with some of the things inner-city children treasure: candy, fruit, crayons, a toy, and a full-color children’s booklet about the greatest story ever told. Easter bags are distributed to “at risk” children through partnering churches and ministries in Easter parties at parks, apartment complexes, and church grounds.
This program provides an opportunity to connect and engage in the lives of needy Jacksonville families. Relationships are formed between parents of needy families and Here’s Life Inner City trained volunteers.
Forty churches and ministries partnered with us to share Christ to 4,000 at-risk elementary children the Saturday before Easter through Easter Bag Parties. We provided inner city churches not only the 4,000 Easter Bags, but also the training to conduct the Parties. We are getting our reports back now concerning the number of children who received Christ. One church reported that of the 37 children who attended their Easter Bag Party, 27 children received Christ!!
Power Packs
Power Packs: Help needy families with back to school necessities and a new pair of shoes. The basic school supplies (we tend to take for granted) are precious for many Jacksonville children. It’s like getting a backpack of hope. Getting to see how happy these children are when they receive a new pair of shoes will make you feel privileged. Hope changes everything!
Power packs are backpacks filled with school supplies for “at risk” students. Power packs contain the following items:
Pencils
Eraser
Calculator
Notebooks with lined paper
Pens
Crayons
Geometry kit
Student Bible
Here’s Life Inner City provides Power Packs to our partner ministries who distribute them through trained volunteers.
When a volunteer delivered a power pack to Henry at his home, his mother Jeanine exclaimed with delight “I don’t believe it!” As the volunteer talked further with Jeanine and shared a witnessing booklet with her, she opened her heart to Jesus.
