Boxes of Love
Boxes of Love: The purpose of the Box of Love evangelistic outreach is to provide a Thanksgiving meal to a family who might not otherwise have one. All the ingredients and preparation instructions are carefully packaged and delivered to families who would normally not be able to afford such a meal. This method of compassion preserves the dignity of the family and allows them to have a feast in their very own home. It also provides the opportunity to connect and establish a relationship.
Boxes of Love are packed and distributed by local community church volunteers trained by Here’s Life Inner City of Jacksonville.
Over 3500 boxes are distributed annually to un-churched needy families like Pam’s family:
Pam (who was unemployed) and her two young daughters received a visit from a local church volunteer delivering a Box of Love. Pam was delighted that she now had food to prepare for Thanksgiving. A relationship began that day that resulted in Pam eventually joining a local church. Pam is now employed close to home providing for her and her daughters. Pam and her family continue to grow and have become part of a larger community. Pam said, “It was more than a Box of Love! It was a box of hope! A box of peace! A box of joy!” Hope changes everything!
